Enamel Barrette June 8, 2008

I made this for my mom one Mother’s Day. I wanted it to look like stained glass. It’s got a translucent back, black clay outlines, and TLS poured in each section and swirled with acrylic paint. At the time I made this, I didn’t know that you’re not supposed to use acrylic to color TLS; you’re supposed to use oils or dyes. Acrylic makes the TLS do strange things. But I love, love, love the way this turned out. The delicate swirls trapped in the frames, the pale colors… Unfortunately, I have never, ever been able to duplicate this barrette. Even using the same techniques! I don’t understand it.
